Throughout his bid for the presidency, Donald Trump put forth a series of ambitious proposals that struck a chord with many voters nationwide. From the construction of a border wall with Mexico to the reworking of trade pacts and the revitalization of American manufacturing, Trump’s declarations were daring and captured the nation’s attention.
As Trump enters the final stretch of his first term, the burning question is whether he will be able to live up to these commitments. While headway has been made on select issues like tax alterations and regulatory adjustments, others have proven to be challenging. The proposed border barrier, for instance, has run into a host of obstacles, including budget disputes and legal wrangling.
Along the same lines, Trump’s attempts to revamp trade agreements have been met with mixed outcomes, with ongoing trading tensions with China causing financial market volatility. Although a number of manufacturing roles have made their way back to the U.S., overall employment growth has not met Trump’s grand expectations.
Come 2020, Trump will be assessed by voters on his capacity to follow through on the assurances he made during his campaign. Whether or not he can deliver on these vows will undoubtedly impact his future in politics.
